NIN and Marilyn Manson Producer Unveils New Project

"Picture a dark, smoke-filled back room evoking the shadowy underworld of a film noir. There is an air of voyeurism, thick with secrets, loneliness, expectation, and lies. This is a place of beauty and darkness, sex and betrayal, love and despair. It is a ticket, a password, a clandestine invitation to somewhere dangerous, yet enticing. It is the window across the alley with it's curtains drawn wide. You know you should look away, but you can't, and you won't."

"8mm are David Lynch does Sgt. Pepper..." Jon Bates/Mellowdrone

"Combining the snarl of Shirley Manson with the girl-next-door sweetness of Olivia Newton-John, Juliette is the aural equivalent of the virgin and the whore...the lady and the tiger...the wife and the mistress all rolled into one......a mouthwateringly delectable debut." Jeff Penczak/Fakejazz June 2004

A lethal combination of Audrey Hepburn, Honey Ryder and Anne Sexton as seen through Fellini's eyes, Juliette Beavan makes her provocative debut as frontwoman in the new darlings of the underground LA music scene, 8mm. But it is not just Juliette's smoldering persona that is creating the buzz. Her voice portrays an intimate combination of vulnerability and sexuality that one feels almost voyeuristic listening to.

Woven around Juliette's vocals is a fresh, infectious cocktail of Massive Attack, PJ Harvey, Portishead, Aimee Mann and Antonio Carlos Jobim, created by multi-instrumentalist, producer and 8mm co-founder, Sean Beavan. The quintessential Irish rogue, Sean is known for the groundbreaking sonics and contagious hooks that have underpinned career-defining records with visionaries as diverse as NIN, Marilyn Manson, Kill Hannah and Chronic Future.

Teaming up with Sean's longtime manager, Shannon O'Shea, who is also known as Garbage's innovative founding manager, 8mm are taking their time before signing to a record label. O'Shea said she "has not been this excited since the early days of Garbage" and for good reason. With the support of tastemakers like KCRW playing the title track, "Opener," and Jon Bates of Mellowdrone proclaiming Juliette "the next Debbie Harry," the band are off to a promising start. Meanwhile, the Sean Beavan produced Chronic Future single "Time And Time Again" was just added to KROQ last week.

Their stunning six song debut EP entitled "Opener" is currently only available via their website (www.8mmaudio.com). Listeners can also stream all the songs there for free.
